Venice Lagoon Plastic Free joins the WINBLUE Project!

We are happy to share that Venice Lagoon Plastic Free (VLPF) is now an official stakeholder of the European WINBLUE project, led by CNR IRPPS and co-funded by the EMFAF programme. This project aims to accelerate the empowerment of women in the blue economy, covering areas like circular blue bio-economy and biotechnology, aquaculture and fisheries, offshore renewable energy, sustainable coastal tourism and enabling technology for protecting and restoring marine ecosystems.

The goal is to empower women through methods and practices, as well as training and coaching services, that will be adopted by public and/or private organizations.

To kick off this partnership, the VLPF team attended the WINBLUE workshop on May 17, 2024. The event, titled “GEP—Gender Equality Plan: Opportunities and Challenges for Entities and Businesses in the Blue Economy” took place at the B4DS Innovation Hub in the Closter of the M9, in Mestre (Venice).

The workshop tackled key topics for building a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

Indeed, Dr. Patrizia Grifoni from CNR Rome first presented the WINBLUE project and outlined its goals and strategies. This was followed by Prof. Rebecca Pogni (UNISI), Dr. Carla de Carolis (Biochica Srl), and other WINBLUE partners, who introduced the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) and highlighted the importance of supporting organizations and businesses in adopting gender equality practices.

The workshop ended with a session in which participants and stakeholders, including VLPF, shared their experiences and lessons, focusing on promoting gender equality.

We’re proud to be an official stakeholder of the WINBLUE project. This collaboration allows us to help reduce gender disparities and promote female leadership in key areas of the blue economy.
