The International Marine Debris Conference

The 7IMDC (International Marine Debris Conference) is the world’s longest-running conference on the topics of plastic pollution and marine litter. The conference’s seventh edition took place this year in Busan, Korea, from 18th to the 23rd of September 2022.

The conference was organised by a committee composed of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea and the United Nations Environment Programme. Supporting these associations were the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

7IMDC allowed stakeholders and industry experts worldwide to meet and discuss the evermore pressing issues of marine litter and plastic pollution.

Academics, researchers, scientists, and members of civil society were able to network, introduce projects, and share ideas and scientific research, as well as catalysing action in the search for solutions for the prevention, removal, and reuse of marine litter.
